Story of Baptists in Southwest Virginia from the 1700s to 1890. Learn about early ministers and state missionaries who carried the Gospel across the hills, hollows and mountainsides of Southwest Virginia – a vast tract of territory from Roanoke to Bristol and westward to the far corners. Also included is a biographical article on Noah Baldwin, a pioneer preacher in the area. The Baldwin article made extensive use of his personal diary. Also included is an inventory of all known Baptist churches in the region prior to 1890. (Note: Unto the Hills is the special title of the 2008 edition of the Virginia Baptist Register. It is a special enlarged issue.)
